A dynamic and well supported team

Our team consists of both young and dynamic lawyers, hired through a demanding and selective process, and experienced lawyers. Together, they provide our clients with multidisciplinary expertise and strategic advice, whether for a trial, a negotiation or an opinion in a full range of legal areas.

Martin Bédard recently joined the Duclos avocats s.e.n.c.r.l. team as legal counsel, bringing his incomparable experience to our team. His extensive career spanning 45 years of legal practice, including 20 as a judge, is a tremendous addition for the firm’s lawyers and clients, who get the daily benefit of his valuable insight.

He hails from Quebec City, but grew up and went to school in Outaouais. After earning a bachelor of arts, he went on to get a bachelor of education so he could fund his law school studies by working as a teacher. Throughout his career as an attorney, he served as a lecturer at the University of Ottawa and the Quebec Bar.

Martin Bédard spent the first 25 years of his legal career as a private practice lawyer and was very active in the Quebec Bar. He was appointed judge of the Superior Court of Quebec in June 2000. After retiring from the bench, he worked as part of the mediation program for retired judges for a year and a half.

In January 2020 he was reinstated to the Quebec Bar and joined the Duclos société d’avocats family.

Throughout his career, Mr. Bédard has been involved in virtually every field of law. His background as an attorney and a judge gives him a unique and comprehensive view of the firm’s casework. He is always available and willing to assist both younger lawyers and more seasoned colleagues, sharing his vast experience in matters of strategy, representation, and problem-solving for the benefit of their clients.
